This book is devoted to the area of expertise by artist Annette Quentin-Stoll: Three-dimensional surface structures. The presented felting methods were developed experimentally in the search for organic structures, which resemble the skin or the spine or fur dress of animals. The book gives an insight into the working procedure of the artist and it shows the interplay between the stimulation by forms, colours and structures and the experiment with felt.
Annette Quentin-Stoll is not about re-imaging or depicting things that surround us, but about the imitating of forms, and ultimately about the self-discovering and self-expression. All structural experiments were documented for the book during its creation. The results were therefore not yet fixed at the beginning of the work; The reader is allowed to follow the development itself. In addition to the experiments on different structures, the book contains important information about the design of pre-felts and presents various concrete projects for implementation.
With around 500 illustrations, the book is designed for experienced felters who know that the felting process requires time and patience. Instead of step-by-step instructions, it contains recipes, suggestions and tips & tricks for those who already have felt experience. The interplay of text and pictorial material combined with your curiosity, enthusiasm for experimentation and patience, »FilzExperiment« will be the perfect companion for designing fascinatingly beautiful felt art works.
